How do you plan the future for your business?

Business planning in the digital age can get a bit tricky. In fact, it can get so tricky many businesses just don’t do it – or don’t do it well.

Jeff Bezos, Founder and CEO of Amazon.com recently said businesses should base their strategies on things that won’t change. These days, finding things that won’t change is easier said than done.

I reckon it’s better – and smarter – to base your business strategies on change you can predict. To be able to predict change, you need to be able to see the future. Not the short term future tomorrow, but the long-term Big Picture future in 3 years, 5 years, 20 years and beyond. The best way I know to do this is to understand the long-term trends and learn from them.

When you can see the future you want for your business, the best way to make it happen is to create your own roadmap – your Digital RoadMap. Plan where you want to be and then plan how you are going to get there. That’s the purpose of Catching Digital.

If you’ve browsed around the SmarterWebStrategies.com website or read my earlier ebook the Digital TrendCatcher Guide, then you’ll already be familiar with some of the info and concepts in Catching Digital. This new book started out as a much-needed update of the earlier guide, but now has a lot of new material in it. It’s all been revised, updated and extensively re-written.
